To Potential Homeowners:

The interns and painters are given an incredible break and the work alone isn’t at all times bad and you are positively NOT putting your self into a scam.

As a tough worker and dedicated employee, I’ve seen scores of homes that turned out to be wonderful. Numerous times this involved painting an entire house, and when completed, regarded as simply amazing. This refers back to the end product although, that means there can be some issues which typically do arise before and through most home improvement tasks . The finished product will be wonderful, but it is extremely uncommon when it comes to not having to take care of or face challenges throughout the painting project.

Homeowner Advantages
Examples of projects I have talked about are great illustrations of how clients obtained a finished job that ought to have value in the area of two-times what they paid. One such instance was one of the first jobs as an intern, where there was a wooden fence involved. The homeowners ended paying an additional $1,200, or thereabouts, but was budgeted too low for the materials and hours just so they’d get the contract. This was their district manager’s recommendation, and in the end they had worked on it for more than 24-hours to not have the painters review budget and value themselves additional money. I’m undecided how much the job would have cost if it were completed by other professionals, but in terms of what it ought to have in terms of cost in their contract to what they paid, the homeowners ended up pocketing a few hundred dollars more.

One benefit to hiring College Works is actually the inexperience and methods they use, whereby if you’re fortunate, can permit you to get you what ought to be a higher price, done for a lot lower price.

In conclusion, one thing that College Works does very well that I actually appreciate is that they paint some homes towards the end of the summer for homeowners who are financially unfortunate. This is accomplished by the interns and district managers. It is a very positive deed for them to do for communities and a philanthropic thing for interns to experience and apply in their future careers. I wanted to make sure I mentioned that if nothing else from this review.

I was approached by a young man from College Works Painting and given an estimate. For the next few weeks, I went online to look a little bit more into the company to know who I am dealing with. They seemed reputable being a national company, but there were complaints from others regions based mainly on follow-up. He addressed my concerns and I gave them a chance and was a pleased customer. » Click Here to Read More.

Not for everybody (and they don’t want it to be). It was a definite challenge, however I discovered a lot more about business in a summer time than I did in business school. I had a whole lot of fun too!

The program completely turned my college career around. I went from being a timid first-year freshman and worrying about going into the “actual world,” to being enthusiastic about graduating. I cannot recall once in my life that I’m not worried about nailing down a really good position in the working world once I graduate. The social networks that I created, not only with my fellow interns, but with the 1000′s of graduating students across the nation have grown to be priceless.

I had ten times more responsibility than my previous internship and uncovered a ton more regarding the inner workings of business. It was tough and demanding work, but the experience is what I believe helped me get the position I have at the present moment.

Review by Dominic Eason – Student at OSU

“My experience with College Works. It was a really great experience. If you want to do anything in Business. If you want to get people skills and communication skills, this is the way to go.

It puts you on a place to really develop yourself and make yourself a lot more than you thought you could. I learned the ability to talk with people, to build relationships with people, and sales skills was a huge thing. But most of all I learned organizational skills; the ability to juggle 10 jobs in a couple of weeks is really powerful.”

Question: What did you do for fun?
“For fun, we went rafting, I won a sales contest with the company and we went skydiving for free, to the river on ATVs, and hit the dunes.” Dominic ran a $95k painting business in the Corvallis, Oregon area in 2010.

What I was taught:
- Incredible laborious work! Being a department manager could be very time consuming, despite the fact that it’s only part-time through the college year, you start marketing around December and are expected to put in 20 to 30 hours every 7 days.
- Positively acquire impressive communications skills, because direct marketing pushes most people out of their comfort zone obliging you to “sell” to property owners.
- Leadership abilities, you have to manage your marketers and painters who are sometimes older than you! And also you handle their overhead expenses.

Office Atmosphere:
The College Works Painting staff in Ann Arbor, Michigan is just superb – my District Manager, Cary Gahm was very informative, pleasing, and by and large just a great motivator and leader. For the most part, regional managers are there to help you, but it’s definitely unarguably hard to blend in as a young woman (since approximately 80-percent of teenage males every year are in the program)

Drawbacks
- They assure entice you with high earnings, but in the end, it’s all based on good fortune of the area you are given. For example, the community I was responsible for bringing in work included 15 other college-aged people working in the similar place. So I was only in a position to churn out $30,000 in painting opportunities. However, in case your area is a rich community and has little competition, you may make a good sum of money. The amount of time & money you put in at the start does not at all times equal to more money. It depends on how quick you complete the project. I didn’t make a substantial amount of cash from my internship. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience and you’ll acquire skills that are useful once you graduate from college in the real world.
